Leh is one of the most famous desert cities located in the Himalayas. An extravaganza of culture, beauty and excitement, Leh is a highly sought-after holiday destination. To behold this stunning expanse and its rich heritage by road is truly an experience like no other!

Sheer Ladakh is a 12 Nights and 13 Days Tour starting and ending at Leh Airport. Undoubtedly one of the most sought-after destinations, Leh has so much culture and excitement to offer. Amidst an amalgamation of chants from the historic monasteries and the gushing rivers during whitewater rafting, you continue your journey.

‘Sheer’ means complete. Therefore, Sheer Ladakh offers a complete sight of Ladakh. Start your tour with getting acclimatised. Explore the local markets and have a sight of Leh city itself on Day 1. The second day sees you visit a place steeped in history – Aryan Village. Home to the descendants of the three Aryan soldiers left behind by Alexander, this is one of the most surreal places one can visit. Your next stop will be Drass followed by Kargil. You head back to Leh on the fourth day and set out to explore the Nubra region on the fifth day. The sixth and seventh days are to explore the outskirts of Nubra Valley, Last village near Indo Pak Border – Turtuk and the world’s highest battlefield – Siachen. Your journey onward on the next day takes you along the Shyok Valley, one of the least-travelled routes in the world to the awe-inspiring Pangong Tso, the world’s highest saltwater lake located at an altitude of 4350 metres above sea level to Hanle and Tso Moriri on the ninth and tenth day respectively. Travel back to Leh on the eleventh Day and spend the twelfth day at leisure. Bid farewell to the Land of Lamas on the thirteenth day.

 This is a one-in-a-lifetime kind of experience as you wander geographical highs and navigate the depths of natural beauty, culture and majestic mountainscapes.

Itineraries

Day 1 : Get Acclimatised!

Your Plan

Meet our representative at Leh Airport (Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport) and get transferred to the Hotel. Check -in and relax. Spend your day getting used to the high altitude. You can go for a walk nearby if comfortable. Please note: Do not exert your body. If at any point of time you feel tired or uncomfortable then please go back to the Hotel and Relax.

Day 2: Aryan Village

Your Plan

You will be travelling to Aryan Village after breakfast today. Hidden in the valleys, this cluster of villages adorned with splendid landscapes and full of green vegetation and tree plantations. The five villages in total - Dah, Hanu, Bheema, Garkon and Sanit - are the last Aryan settlements in India. Tourists are only allowed to visit Dah and Hanu and have the chance to explore the rich culture and history of the region. Dinner and stay for the night will be at our campsite in Aryan village.

Day 3: Explore Kargil

Your Plan

You depart for Kargil in the morning via Chiktan. Along the way you will also pass Drass, the second coldest, inhabited place in the world! Here, in extreme conditions, the temperature dips to a bone-chilling -60°C. You can visit the Drass War Memorial, a commemorative memorial for the brave soldiers and officers that laid down their lives during the Kargil War of 1999. Next, you visit the Mulbekh monastery to witness the majestic 30 feet long sculpture of Maitreya Buddha, made out of limestone. Dinner and stay for the night will be at the hotel in Kargil.

Day 4: Enroute Leh

Your Plan

Beginning the journey after breakfast, you cross the Namik La pass first followed by the Fotu La pass to reach your first stop for the day - Lamayuru monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in Ladakh. Lamayuru, a quaint village is stylized as Moonscape for the moonlike landscapes carved into the Himalayan Mountains. Once you reach Leh, you first visit Sangam, the magnificent confluence of the rivers Indus and Zanskar followed by visits to the Shanti, Stupa, War Memorial Hall of Fame, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and the mysterious Magnetic Hill! If time permits, you can even visit the Spituk Monastery and the majestic Leh Palace. Dinner and stay for the night will be at the hotel in Leh.

Day 5: Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La

Your Plan

Gear up for the most adventurous excursion of the trip - Leh to Nubra via Khardung La - one of the highest motorable passes in the world! Today’s journey begins after breakfast taking you across South Pullu, along the Khardung village followed by North Pullu. Next, you finally cross the awe-inspiring Khardung La pass, which at about 5600 metres is one of the highest motorable passes in the world to reach Nubra. Your last stop for the day before you reach the desert region of Hunder, is at the Diskit Monastery - the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra Valley followed by an off-road thrill experience on an ATV in the desert*. Dinner and stay for the night will be at our campsite in Nubra. *ATV is optional. Cost for the same is not included in the package.

Day 6: Turtuk

Your Plan

You leave for the Turtuk village in the morning. Not limited to the name, the village itself is one of a kind. This is the last major Indian settlement before the Line of Control, making it the last village on the Indo-Pak border! You can explore the village and its rich history before heading back to Hunder. *Please note, travel to Turtuk will depend on the weather and the condition of the roads. If the Shyok route is not in good condition, you will travel back to Leh. In this case, visiting Turtuk will not be possible.

Day 7: Siachen

Your Plan

Today is sure to be an unforgettable experience as you begin your journey towards the world’s highest battlefield - Siachen. You ride all the way to the base camp followed by a 60 kms trek through moraines, glaciers and deep crevasses to see the Siachen glacier in all its glory. This glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram Range in the Himalayas at an average altitude of 18,000 ft above sea level. One of the five largest glaciers in Karakoram, it is truly a sight to behold. Close to the evening, we will begin our journey back to Nubra. Dinner and stay for the night will be at the hotel in Nubra.

Day 8: Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso

Your Plan

After breakfast today, you have some time to enjoy the sand dunes in the cold, crisp desert air of Hunder before you depart for Pangong Tso via the Shyok Valley. As beautiful as it is, this valley of the Shyok river is popularly known as the river of death because of how difficult it is and is not often selected for a travel route. You reach Pangong Tso, the world’s highest saltwater lake at an altitude of 4350 metres above sea level, by evening. With crystal clear waters, in every breathtaking shade of blue imaginable, this lake is one of the best attractions of Ladakh. Dinner and stay for the night will be at our campsite.

Day 9: Pangong Tso to Hanle

Your Plan

Start your day early and catch the phenomenal sunrise over Pangong Lake. Be sure to get some good pictures! After breakfast, you depart via Chushul. This route is dotted with tiny villages and remote areas and you cross Man, Merak, Tsaga village and Loma before you reach Hanle. Hanle is a tiny village with an even tinier population and has only been opened for tourism recently. Home to the Indian Astronomical Observatory, the second largest in the world, Hanle is known for its mesmerizing view of the night sky. Dinner and stay for the night will be at a homestay.

Day 10: Hanle to Tso Moriri

Your Plan

Today’s journey, begins after breakfast and takes you past some amazing landscapes. The 150 km trip also has you pass three splendid lakes - Loma, Nyoma and Sumdo before you arrive at your destination for the day, Tso Moriri. Here you can take in one of the most peaceful high-altitude lakes in India, Tso Moriri lake. Approximately 28 km long, it is set against a backdrop of magnificent snow-covered mountains and encompassed by barren hills. Spend some time by the lake before heading to our campsite in Tso Moriri for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Tso Moriri to Leh

Your Plan

You will be starting the day early once again. After breakfast, you head for Namashang La pass. The roads are more or less dirt tracks only and you will only find a few parts with proper roads along this route. The descent from Namashang La takes you to Sumdo and across the Mahe bridge before you reach Chumathang. With a number of tiny villages along the way, you will next reach Kumdok followed by Upshi before finally reaching Leh. Dinner and stay for the night will be at the hotel in Leh.

Day 12: Day at Leisure

Your Plan

Spend the day at leisure. Explore the famous Monasteries and go for a coffee at German Bakery. Explore the evening exploring Local Markets. The day is yours and spend it in your own crazy style.

Day 13: Departure

Your Plan

The tour ends after breakfast today, with a host of beautiful memories of an unforgettable trip. You will be dropped to Leh airport at your convenience.

3. Nubra to Pangong via shyok depends on weather and road conditions. Incase the Route is not okay, we will skip Hanle Stay. (will be adjusted in Nubra - Leh)
